News │ PROMETHEUS was presented at the Optica Industry Summit Quantum Event
Saint-Germain, France (November 9th, 2022). On November 9th, Davide Bacco, CTO of QTI, presented the quantum applications using programmable photonics in the framework of the Europe Horizon funded project Prometheus at the Optica Quantum Industry Summit at iXblue.
Optica Industry Summit Quantum Event was held on November 8th and 9th in Saint-Germain, France. The main purpose of this event was to bring together the companies in the supply chain focusing on end-user needs, targeting the achievement of the commercialization of upcoming products resulting of the current R&D initiatives.
In the event, four main application areas in which a paradigm shift is expected were addressed: quantum communication, quantum sensing, quantum computing and quantum imaging.
Quantum computing have risen during the last years as one of the main pillars of a post-von Neumann computational landscape, with the aim to circumvent the physical limitations of “conventional” computing and tackle the exploding machine learning field in a future proof manner. In addition, the exotic properties of quantum and neuromorphic systems are already being exploited to harden the cyberphysical integrity of an interconnected digital ecosystem.
In the framework of PROMETHEUS project, quantum and neuromorphic photonic processing will be merged into a uniform integrated platform creating a device able to unravel large-scale neuromorphic-quantum implementations, offering unprecedentedly low power consumption, processing speed and versatility to adapt to a wide pallet of applications.
